june poetry party

(road)
step step pause step step
step step step branch branch? stumble —
walking home at dusk

(road)
driving just to drive,
hours pass on a rainy night.
oh look! the state line

i love driving without a goal, just wandering to see what’s out there. one rainy afternoon a long time ago i started out driving across town. when i got to the edge of town, i didn’t happen to feel like stopping, so i just kept on, heading for the next town, and so on and so on. it wasn’t until i saw the state line sign, many hours later, that it occurred to me, “hmm, maybe i should head home” :-)

(dance)
riverfront park, dawn.
geese move for joggers, and they
step aside for bikes
