new york state of mind

February 2, 2007 Leave a comment Go to comments

I turned to the dark side last fall (when I accepted a job in management :-) but it wasn’t till now that I could schedule my trip to corporate headquarters in New York for the one-week “new managers” class.

Here’s a picture of Mount Hood, shortly after takeoff on the flight east.

The management training center is located in suburban NY, outside the City and very close to Connecticut. The lodgings and dining were on-site, just a short walk away. The weather was chilly but sunny, and at lunchtimes I took walks in the woods.

The class was very good, but we’ll see over time if I learned anything about being a good manager :-). There’s a follow-up class in a year or so, part of which will cover anonymous feedback given by my team members. Should be interesting!
