poem: close to home

high on a hillside
on a cool drizzly day,
looking down over
heavy low clouds, and
mist on the river

Some people associate cloudy rainy days with sadness or melancholy, but not Nancy and me. We love our Pacific Northwest weather. Taking the dogs for a walk up on the high bluffs overlooking the Willamette River, I pause for a few moments, filled with the thought “I live here!”
