first visitors

Tom had a business trip to Washington state, so since it was so close Tom, Chan, and friend Mary came down to see our new place and be our first visitors! (Mary took this picture.)

Since it was a nice day, we all went for a walk along the river at the nearby park, along with the puppies.

From the banks of the river you can see up toward downtown Portland. There are also floating boat docks that let you walk pretty far out over the water.

After our walk, we drove off to do a little sightseeing around town, leaving the very sad puppies behind. We stopped by the world famous Portland Rose Garden, but in March there isn’t much to see :-) so we’ll have to go again in June.

We had dinner at a restored theater that serves pizza while you watch a movie, and had dessert at the super-secret Rimsky Korsacoffee House. RKH has no need to advertise, and the restored old house basically has no signs — we got there right at opening time, but by the time we left there was a long line waiting to get in for their amazing desserts.

Update: Nancy and I revisited the Rose Garden in July with Chris and Jen, with everything in bloom.
