an old irish tradition

Every year, Eric and Michelle have a traditional Irish dinner for St. Patrick’s Day, and they invited Nancy and me, and Mark and Deb, to join them. The dinner is always corned beef and cabbage, with potatoes and a rich white sauce; very yummy!

Interesting historical note: I just read in the local paper that the original Irish traditional dinner was cabbage and Irish bacon, but the Irish immigrants to the US were so poor they couldn’t afford bacon. Instead, they went to the local deli and got corned beef instead (don’t you feel smarter now? :-)

Lexi saw me taking pictures, and so she wanted to take pictures too. She filled up the digital camera’s memory with lots of shots of the floor, people’s feet, and her thumb — like this one: :-)
